Live Dixieland Jazz was enjoyed by a capacity crowd when the River City Jazzmen from Christchurch gave a Sunday afternoon concert late November. A fantastic afternoon of great music in a fitting setting. All the extremely positive comments concluded with "whats next?"

Aeroview was the venue for the 50th Anniversary Celebrations for The Vintage Phonograph Society of New Zealand. Members gathered to share memories and reflect on a half century of activities. The Society has been responsible for fostering the collection of these wonderful instruments, has organised reproduction of hard to find parts for restoration projects, and produced an excellent magazine. Wonderful people with a wonderful interest. It was our pleasure to host them on such a momentous occasion.

We recently hosted members of the Mackenzie Community Group for lunch and a retro cinema experience. They were an absolute delight and so full of interest and enthusiasm. Great to be able to make such a positive difference to their day out!

Members of the Papanui Club Travel Section recently set off on an overnight adventure staying in Timaru. On the way south they enjoyed a cosy cuppa by our log fires, a leisurely look around our retro displays and a little comedy on our big screen. Nice people, see you next time folks !

As our contribution to Roscos Wheels Week 2015, we once again hosted our Aeroview Vintagefest.
Thanks to all the owners who brought their treasures from throughout Canterbury to share with everyone on a beautiful Sunday.

You'd be hard pressed to find a better Christmas-themed function venue elsewhere in Canterbury and our hospitality and catering is second to none - our continuing postive feedback well and truely backing that up. Book your Christmas function now!

Aeroview is full of surprises! Look who just dropped in for a couple of months - the perfect backdrop to your Christmas function!

Another wee Christmas gem - one of many fantastic displays at Aeroview.

We have two companies covering all catering options here at Aeroview. These friendly ladies (Julie and Sarah) own Reflections Cafe and Catering and along with Dan and his All Fed Up team, send our guests home very impressed and satisfied!

L
ocal sign legend Jeff Harvey recently hosted signwriting  whizzes from both sides of the Tasman in a venture known as "Letterheads". They gather to inspire, enlighten, mentor and feed off each other and have a great time while they're at it! We were delighted to meet them as they "adopted" Aeroview to create some sign magic. As well as our "tiny town" coming to life, four of them got to work on this old DC3 flap we had hanging around and created this bespoke masterpiece. It will hang at Aeroview to accompany some large images of the aircraft graveyard at Rukuhia post-war with rows and rows of derelict Corsairs and P40's. Will look amazing!
Thanks so much Winton, Lindsay, Reg and Crazy Vick of Australia, our new mates who together created magic. And BIG THANKS to Jeff Harvey for making it all happen !

The finished project - a masterpiece!

Convene South Mid Canterbury Famil

A number of key players from all over New Zealand with conference hosting responsibilities, checked out what Mid Canterbury had to offer recently and were delighted with what they encountered at Aeroview. We hosted them for lunch and comments were extremely positive with plenty of remarks and visitors book comments about the warmth of the atmosphere and the originality and uniqueness of the venue.

Among the comments, we thought this was wonderful.
"Sometimes you go somewhere special and you know you will never ever forget it." Jen Houdalakis.

Aeroview continues to develop with the latest area receiving plenty of attention being the Vintage Village area. Arthur "Oily" Wraggs Motor Garage is joined by Pickfords Models and Toys, Smiths General Store, the Latrine Theatre ( a showbiz entrance to our loo's), Joes Barber, Kemps Engineering and the Fire Station.

We are having a lot of fun creating this space populated with relevant memorabilia. Our guests find it yet another intriguing part of what we do. We often hear the comment, " everywhere I look there's something I haven't seen before." The Latrine Theatre features standing and seated performances. True audience participation!

Things continue to be busy at Aeroview with a recent hosting of the Ashburton Ladies Probus Club and Hyundai Mid Canterbury and Timaru celebrating mid-winter.

We have availabilities right through the year to host your club or group. In the winter the two log fires ensure everyones warm and snug and in the warmer months theres plenty of fresh country air and a chance to relax outside as well.

Aeroview was pleased to host the Ashburton Ladies Probus Club for lunch and an afternoon of nostalgia recently.

As you can see, everyone was feeling right at home which is just the way we like it at Aeroview.

Aeroview was delighted to host the great crew from Hyundai Mid Canterbury and Timaru for a Mid Winter Christmas function recently.  We were stoked to get this lovely note following the event.

Your hospitality was incredible and Aeroview will be sure to do well, we will be back for sure!" -  Nick Cairns who threw a surprise 70's-themed party for wife Cindy's 40th.

Some great comments in out visitor's book!

Live music set the mood for a full house when Jenny and Penny celebrated their 70th birthdays jointly at Aeroview. Pictured from left, Don (bass), Susan (vocals), Chris (drums), Jim (trumpet), Alan (trombone) and Birthday girl Penny on the piano. Also in the band but just out of shot, Geordie (guitar). The Aeroview Theatre came into its own as a showcase for some great talent. A great night had by all!

Southern DC3 Crew Party.

We've been closely involved with the project to acquire and preserve the last flying example of a DC3 in the South Island.

Aeroview's Peter McQuarters was approached by Airbus A320 Captain Dave Horsburgh back in 2006 with a plan. If the Ashburton Aviation Museum could build a suitable hangar, a trust would be formed to acquire and operate the DC3 as long as possible, before permanent placement in the museum for the people of New Zealand.

With the aircrafts 130 hour maintenace looming and with it a hefty maintenance bill, the decision has been taken to retire ZK AMY from flying duties.
With the aircraft now debt free, the Southern DC3 Trustees and crew celebrated with a party hosted by Peter and Larraine at Aeroview.

It was especially cool to see ZK AMY taxi directly across the road  from us and for the final flight out stepped Captain Horburgh and SDC3 Trust Patron, Richie McCaw who performed the final landing, flawlessly, as you'd expect from the master !

January 2014

Aeroview off to a flying start!

Since opening in November last year, we've hosted some amazing people at some great functions.  The Christmas Season saw some wonderful celebrations with a diverse clientele. A local medical centre, transport company, social agency, automotive company, dairy farmers, contractors, emergency services social clubs, social cyclers, and a building supply company were among our first guests. We even hosted a funeral for a very special Ashburton man as part of his final wishes. It was an honour for us to oblige.

All the feedback has been strongly positive with comments typically, "I never knew this was here. It's brilliant." , "I can't believe this", "Such a relaxed atmosphere."

Looks like we're onto something special here at Aeroview. Talk to us now about a special event you have on the 2014 calendar. We will do everything we can to make it as memorable and as hassell-free as possible. We are here to give you a great experience!

Alister Benny celebrated his 80th birthday at Aeroview recently.  A semi-retired farmer and trotting owner, his family and friends joined Benny and wife Isobel to share some memories including footage on the Aeroview Theatre screen of his horse winning! What a great family and evening!

17 December 2013

Congratulations to John & Natalie Holdaway! The couples 60th Wedding Anniversary combined with Johns 80th birthday was celebrated with their extended family at Aeroview. And what a really nice and talented family they are! They can even muster a very respectable brass band within their family circle. It was an absolute pleasure to host you!
